Sara is currently a doctoral student, working towards earning their masters and doctorate in the counseling psychology program at the University of Akron. Sara is joining Oberlin’s Counseling Center for the 2021–22 academic year. Her approach to therapy is rooted in a feminist/multicultural perspective, which for them means acknowledging how culture and societal systems influence individual mental health. Sara views therapy as a collaborative relationship, where student and therapist work together to identify common goals that support the student’s well-being and align with the student’s personal values.

Sara’s professional interests include identity development for LGBTQ+ individuals, trauma and resiliency related to experiences of oppression, and building community support and connection.
