Biography
I am the Director of the Center for Learning, Education, and Research in the Sciences (CLEAR).
My work has and continues to focus on the equity-centered transformation of curricular and cocurricular STEM learning environments that support students to see themselves as brilliant and capable scientific sensemakers. As a researcher, my interest and work is centered on equity-focused redesign of gateway courses. My work with faculty has focused on supporting their courses to become more equitable and inclusive. As an instructor, I have taught courses on a range of topics including biology, navigating STEM, and pedagogy. My work with students has included formal and informal advising and program development for those interested in research and research careers from populations that have historically been excluded from STEM participation. As the CLEAR director, I bring and build from my experiences to develop and support equity and inclusion focused efforts to ensure the success of all students in STEM.
