W. Dean Wolfe, emeritus professor and lay leader in the Episcopal Church, died from conditions related to a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease on August 10, 2015. He was 85. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, Episcopal, 162 South Main Street, Oberlin, Ohio, on October 10 at 2 p.m. In lieu of floral tributes, the family suggests memorial gifts in his name to support Parkinson’s research to the Sun Health Foundation.

A symposium will be held in memory of Jesse Rowsell, assistant professor of chemistry, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 4. An avid hiker and lover of the outdoors, 37-year-old Rowsell died on a hiking trip near his hometown in northern Ontario on January 30, 2015.

Cindy Nickoloff, Oberlin’s director of internal communications, died July 6, 2014, at her home in Elyria after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She worked for Oberlin's Office of Communications for nearly 25 years.

Emeritus Professor of Sociology William P. Norris died April 12, 2014. Funeral services will be private. A memorial service will be scheduled at Oberlin College in late May.

M. Kay Thomson, who served Oberlin’s development and alumni affairs division from 1995 until her retirement in 2003, died Thursday, January 16, 2014.

Longtime trustee and supporter of Oberlin College George R. Bent II ”52 died September 17 at age 85. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 19.

Longtime faculty member Edward J. Miller was a prolific composer and a versatile educator whose works were performed by orchestras around the world and by many fellow professors. He died August 31, 2013.
