Artist Recital Series

Since its inception in 1878, Oberlin’s Artist Recital Series has presented more than 1,000 of the world’s acclaimed and accomplished musicians, conductors, orchestras, chamber ensembles, and composers. These artists enhance the arts and culture of Oberlin and northeast Ohio. It is one of the oldest continuing concert series in the United States.

Black History Month

Black History Month at Oberlin, recognized since 1967, has helped to foster greater awareness of the history, politics, culture, and economics of the African diaspora. Our annual celebration features prominent civic and political leaders, scholars, and musicians of African descent, as well as events in arts, literature, and performance aesthetics that make our observance more enriching.


The Oberlin Convocation Series, presented by the Finney Lecture Committee and the Office of the President, presents free, public discussions of cutting-edge issues by some of the country’s most prominent thinkers from an array of disciplines and professional fields.

Marco Wilkinson Receives Award

Marco Wilkinson, managing editor of the Oberlin College Press, has received a 2018 Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence for his writing.

Andria Derstine Receives Fellowship

May 23, 2018

Andria Derstine, John G. W. Cowles director of Allen Memorial Art Museum, received an Affiliated Fellowship from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. During her fellowship, Derstine will focus on researching training and instruction techniques at the French Academy in Rome and the Accademia di San Luca in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Kieran Minor ’19 Named 2018 Truman Scholar

Kieran Minor ’19 has won the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship. Awarded to outstanding college juniors who have demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, the $30,000 prize will help fund Minor’s postgraduate studies.
