What We Do

The work that the MRC engages in varies, but generally includes:

  • One-on-one and group student advising
  • Community building and social events
  • Conference and colloquia coordination and organization
  • Crisis and trauma intervention for students
  • Training and workshops
  • Collaboration with students to support the ongoing success of student-led social justice programming


The MRC imagines a future in which the college engages in proactive and innovative efforts in addressing the needs of historically disenfranchised students. Our hope is that students will grow in their efforts to enact transformational change that impacts communities locally, nationally, and globally through:

a) cross-community and community-specific leadership development;
b) informed action and student activism;
c) culturally relevant forms of discourse.

Therefore, we are committed to creating and sustaining a campus community that actively affirms the intersectional identities and lived experiences of students, faculty, and staff.
