Biography

Lucas Burns '16 began their career as a student with interest in human relating. He entered Oberlin considering a humanities major, such as sociology or anthropology, but was eventually drawn towards the mysteries of nature and a degree in physics. Throughout his time as a student, he found fulfilment in the work of interfaith dialogue facilitation, identifying humanist-atheist, and discovered great joy and meaning in relationship across difference. After his first tenure as Barefoot coordinator in 2017-18, he continued his study of theoretical physics at Chapman University 2019-2023 obtaining an MS in computational science, then returned to Oberlin for a second term as coordinator in August 2023.
