Project Hózhó combines arts education, documentary film, and interactive web design to empower youth voices on the Navajo Reservation in Chinle, Arizona. We will lead a film production and creative writing workshop for Chinle students grades 7-12 that will facilitate environmental awareness through the arts. We plan to simultaneously shoot our own documentary about the environmental history of Chinle. After the four-week workshop, we will develop an interactive website that highlights the artistic work, specifically oral histories, that Chinle students will produce during the workshop. The website will place the user in Chinle and allow them to virtually explore different parts of town while watching video content produced by Chinle students in the workshops. We hope to circulate the documentary and interactive website while ensuring the continuation of the workshops for years to come.
