Chelsea and Chloe de Souza are a classical performing duo from Mumbai, India, studying at the Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music. This summer, they have organized a tour in various cities in India, including Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Goa, in which they will be giving joint piano and voice recitals and conducting masterclasses for music students across the country. They hope to develop a presence as a sister duo, and this tour is their debut performance as such.
About Chelsea and Chloe de Souza
Chelsea de Souza grew up in Mumbai, India. A Steinway Young Artist, she will be a senior at Oberlin College & Conservatory this fall, majoring in Politics, Piano and Vocal Accompanying under Peter Takàcs. Chelsea has won four All-India Piano Competitions, and been on three summer scholarships to Germany. She was the top prize-winner in the 2009 IIYM International Piano Competition in Kansas, USA, was interviewed on NBC TV and performed live on Kansas Public Radio.
Chelsea has given concerts in Belgium, Germany and USA and has performed as a soloist with the Bombay Chamber Orchestra. Her concert tours in India have earned her high praise in several newspapers. She will be spending the first half of her summer at the music festival PianoTexas in Dalla/Fort Worth, and will then be traveling to India to embark on a concert tour of piano and voice recitals and masterclasses with her sister, Chloe. She enjoys singing, accompanying, chamber music and collaborations in pop and jazz.
Chloe de Souza will be a sophomore at Oberlin Conservatory this fall, studying piano and voice under Peter Takàcs and Kendra Colton. Chloe was the winner of the 2012 Con Brio All-India Piano Competition, and has won numerous singing competitions and the local and state level. Prior to her acceptance into Oberlin, she was under the tutelage of London-based Opera singer, Patricia Rosario OBE and has been part of her “Giving Voice to India” program. Chloe has had the honor of singing at the Mrs. World Beauty Pageant and has performed at various charity events and concerts in various capacities as singer, pianist, accompanist and choir conductor. In her spare time she enjoys teaching voice and training & accompanying young performers at competitions.
