Major: oboe



William Welter was born in Omaha, Nebraska and completed his oboe studies at the Curtis Institute with Richard Woodhams. He is currently an Artist Diploma student at Oberlin Conservatory studying with Robert Walters. He has participated in many summer music festivals including Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, and the Music Academy of the West.  William is currently one of three finalists for the principal oboe position at the Chicago Symphony and will play his trial week under the baton of Ricardo Muti this Spring.
