Major: Visual Arts

Siobhan Furnary is a filmmaker and musician who assumes a sculptural approach to video and sound. She is interested in revealing how inanimate objects, such as landscapes and interior details, have the ability to perform and to reveal narratives of their own. Often creating visual poems of inaudible rhythms, she asks viewers to contemplate the worlds around them. In recent work, Siobhan sought moments where nature was juxtaposed with or re-contextualized by man-made spaces. This most recent body of work considers the tension between aesthetics and the social and environmental impacts they mask.
