Simone Hammett Lynch, from Denver, CO, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance with Marilyn McDonald. As co-secretary and co-founder of Oberlin Students for Gender Inclusivity in Music (OSGIM), she has organized a collaborative bi-annual event, “IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME: Women and Trans Composers you should Know About,” which draws women/trans musicians from a diverse range of genres and communities on the Oberlin campus. Additionally, she oversees publicity and event planning for the organization, including poster and logo design, photo/video, and archival work. Simone is a section violinist with the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, and has served as concertmaster of the Oberlin Orchestra and the Texas Festival Orchestra at Round Top. Recently, she spent the summer performing with the 2019 National Repertory Orchestra. She hopes to continue working with OSGIM after graduating from Oberlin; her journal is full of brainstorming lists for the future of the organization!
