Matt Adomeit began picking away at the mandolin at age 10. His formal study of music would not begin until years later, when he grew to love the upright bass and the versatility it afforded him. The bass allowed Matt the opportunity to draw from his early folk experiences on the mandolin and also broadened his musical scope to include both jazz and classical. Matt has shared the stage with numerous top jazz artists including Jamey Haddad, Dave Liebman, Paul Samuels, and Alon Yavnai, and performed in venues throughout the Midwest including Nighttown, Close Up 2, and the Dirty Dog Café. He has composed for a wide variety of his own bands including the Hip-Hop/Gospel/Rock band Knomadik and the sextet deturtle, which combines a jazz trio with a classical string trio. Matt recently graduated from Oberlin’s double-degree program with a BM in jazz bass performance and a BA in economics.
