Emma Marcus is a fourth year Creative Writing major and History minor from Portland, OR. She is passionate about the use of writing and storytelling to challenge boundaries between people. She spent the Spring of 2018 living in Arizona and participating in a program called Border Studies, which encouraged students to think about all sorts of borders, not just the literal barrier between Mexico and the US. She hopes to incorporate those ideas and tools into her every day life at Oberlin, whether it's through her involvement in the Creative Writing department as a student-faculty liaison, her guidance of younger students as a Teacher's Assistant, or her job as a barista at the local coffee shop.
