Cat Lambert, post-doctoral fellow in Classics at Cornell University, will give a talk at Oberlin College titled “Lucian’s Queer Book User in the Adversus Indoctum.Prof. Lambert’s talk will be drawn from her essay on the topic, which won the 2022 John J. Winkler Memorial prize, and annual prize given for the best graduate or undergraduate essay in a “risky or marginal area of Classics.”  In her talk Prof. Lambert will discuss the ways in which a “bad reader” depicted in a satire of the 2nd c.
