What You Laughin’ At?: An International Women’s Day Special Presentation

Join Afrikan Heritage House in our ongoing celebration of Black History Month and Women’s History Month. On March 8, we honor the legacy and work of Black women while simultaneously observing International Women’s Day. What You Laughin’ At?: An International Women’s Day Special Presentation highlights the roles Black women play in their communities, bringing joy and a sense of humor to our lives.

Black women play a critical role in the formation of many cultural trends, including comedy. What You Laughin’ At? will showcase ways Black women alchemize painful experiences and everyday-life into laughter and celebration. We are excited to celebrate the transformative and influential power of Black women's laughter through presenting examples of Black women's comedy that epitomize their ongoing importance in shaping popular culture. 

The marathon presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Saunders Lounge, located in the Afrikan Heritage House. In the words of Lucille Clifton, “won’t you celebrate with me?” We hope to see you there.
