The tenth-annual Thomas and Evon Cooper International Competition begins Saturday, July 20.

Twenty-four young violinists, ages 13 through 18 and hailing from six countries and seven U.S. states, square off through six days of performances. 

These remarkable young artists compete over several rounds in Oberlin. The field narrows to three accomplished violinists who perform a complete concerto in the Finals with The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall. One finalist will emerge as the 2019 Cooper champion—with a grand prize of $20,000.

SEMIFINALS ROUND I - Saturday through Monday, July 20-22
Competitors perform for 35 minutes each.
(two sessions each day)
1:30 pm, 7:00 pm

CONCERTO ROUND - Tuesday, July 23
Ten competitors perform a complete concerto with piano accompaniment.    
1:30 pm, 7:00 pm

RECITAL FINALS ROUND - Wednesday, July 24
Six competitors perform 30-minute recital programs. 
7:00 pm
This round will be broadcast on WCLV 104.9 FM on Thursday evening, July 25, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

All Oberlin performances are free and take place in Warner Concert Hall (77 W. College St.) on the beautiful campus of Oberlin College and Conservatory. 

CONCERTO FINALS with The Cleveland Orchestra Friday, July 26
