The 2022 Jed Deppman Translation Symposium

April 20–21, 2022

The annual Jed Deppman Translation Symposium celebrates Oberlin Students’ achievements in literary translation. It is a spirited multilingual event with the special attendance of an established literary translator who gives a keynote address.

This year’s keynote speaker, Lawrence Venuti, is the foremost scholar of translation studies in the Anglophone world and a translator from Italian, Catalan, and French.

The Translation Symposium will take place over two days in Craig Lecture Hall: on April 20 (7:00 to 8:30 p.m.) students will present their translations; and on April 21 Lawrence Venuti will give the keynote address (6:00 to 7:30 PM).
