Graduating and not sure what’s next? Consider a career in piano technology!

Oberlin's Artist Diploma in Piano Technology, presented in conjunction with Steinway & Sons, is a two-year program that prepares students for careers in piano restoration and maintenance worldwide. And, it’s not just for pianists! Piano technicians come from a variety of backgrounds, and graduates in science fields often find themselves at home in piano technology.

GET HIGH-LEVEL INSTRUCTION! Training in complete restoration of Steinway grand pianos, basic to advanced woodworking skills, action rebuilding, tuning, regulation, and voicing with an emphasis on collaborating with performers to prepare pianos for concert.

GET EXPERIENCE! Summer internships available at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Advanced training at the Steinway factory in New York City.

EXPLORE FOR YOURSELF: December 3-6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drop in on lectures at 10 AM and 1:30 PM daily, observe classes, and talk with students and faculty in the lower level of Bibbins Hall (via the east stairwell).
