Janet McKelvey is an assistant director of Contracting and National Security Acquisitions in the Boston office of the United States Government Accountability Office (GAO).

She has worked at the GAO since receiving a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in 2003.  The GAO is a federal agency that provides the Congress and the public with timely analysis about government-related activity—information that is objective, fact-based, and nonpartisan. The GAO’s work leads to laws that improve government operations, saving taxpayers billions of dollars.

How did this theater and psychology double major end up in policy analysis? What is it like to work in this type of public service? What Oberlin experiences helped prepare her for this career, and what might she have done differently? Come to the talk and find out.
