Advanced preparation for medical emergencies and death can alleviate stress upon one's care network. In order for a person’s financial and medical wishes to be adhered to in the event that they are not able, they must follow Ohio’s legal procedures for estate and advanced care planning. We encourage Oberlin employees to communicate your wishes with those you love and ensure that you have the legal protections in place for your executors to make decisions on your behalf. Identifying executors is increasingly crucial as family and caregiving can be defined in multiple ways for all, especially LGBTQ, BIPOC, and blended families.

Topics: financial and medical power of attorney, legal filing, and personal decision-making. The nuances of estate and advanced care planning for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and blended families will be covered. A Q & A will follow.

Note: Please note that attendees will not be receiving legal advice of any sort; rather, the discussion will broadly highlight and discuss topics of interest and concern. You must RSVP to attend.
