Shehan Karunatilaka was born in 1975 in Sri Lanka, Shehan Karunatilaka embarked on an international journey in the pursuit of his education and professional life, studying in New Zealand before living and working in London, Amsterdam, and Singapore. Over the years, his diverse cultural experiences have seeped into his writing, making his works a unique blend of local perspectives and global sensibilities. He is the author of two critically acclaimed novels, Chinaman: The Legend of Pradeep Mathew and The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida, which won the 2022 Booker Prize. Karunatilaka currently resides in Colombo.
