A conversation and Q&A with Mary Annaïse Heglar and Billy Fleming on Urban Sustainability, covering both effective individual sustainability actions and larger societal forces within urban environments in relation to climate change.

Heglar  '06 is one of the best climate communicators in the field, a change-maker in the modern world of climate communications and activism. She is the director of publications at the National Resources Defense Council and an author with several published pieces in news outlets such as Vox and Inverse.

Fleming is the Wilks Family Director of the McHarg Center at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design. He focuses on the impacts of climate change on the built environment, with his work contributing to the Green New Deal for Public Housing Act and his writing published in outlets like the Guardian and the Atlantic as well as a number of books, including the forthcoming book Drowning America: The Nature and Politics of Adaptation. Fleming previously worked in the Obama Administration’s White House Domestic Policy Council.
