A conversation and Q&A with Mary Annaïse Heglar and Amy Westervelt on Climate Communications and Journalism, covering the importance of this field as climate change progresses and how to get involved.

Heglar ’06 is one of the best climate communicators in the field, a change-maker in the modern world of climate communications and activism. She is the director of publications at the National Resources Defense Council and an author with several published pieces in news outlets such as Vox and Inverse.

Westervelt is an award-winning print and audio journalist whose work on environment, health, and business has been published in the Washington Post, the Guardian, and the Wall Street Journal. Her pieces may also be heard on Capital Public Radio, KQED, and the California Report.

Mary and Amy cohost a podcast together called Hot Take, aimed at dissecting current climate coverage and constructively critiquing this reporting as an invitation to broaden and increase the inclusivity of the climate conversation.
