Black Families Appreciation Ceremony and Dinner

A pre-commencement event created to celebrate the graduation and accomplishments of students of the African diaspora. Kente Cloth stoles will be given to students at the ceremony. 

The Black Family Appreciation Ceremony has been a tradition in Oberelin's Black community for many years.  It not only gives graduating students a chance to celebrate as a community, the ceremony also provides them with the opportunity to share words of thanks to those who have been supportive along the way.

Immediately following the ceremony will be the Black Family Appreciation Dinner at the Afrikan Heritage House.  No RSVP is required; bring yourself, friends, family, and loved ones.
