Harassment is unwelcome speech or conduct (for example, physical, oral, graphic, or written) related to one or more of the categories listed below that interferes substantially with a person’s work or education, and or creates an environment that a reasonable person would find hostile, offensive, or intimidating.

Harassment based on the following categories is illegal:

  • race
  • color
  • sex
  • marital status
  • religion
  • creed
  • national origin
  • disability
  • age
  • military or veteran status
  • sexual orientation
  • family relationships to an employee of Oberlin College
  • gender identity and expression
