Senior Admissions Fellow: Ellisa Lang
Ellisa (she/her) is from Honolulu, Hawaii. She is majoring in psychology and minoring in chemistry and East Asian studies while on the pre-medicine track. She is bilingual with her first language being Japanese.
In her free time she loves to be in the water either surfing or swimming. This year she is the Men’s and Women’s Team Captain for the varsity swimming and diving team at Oberlin and a representative for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. When not in the pool, she is very involved with the STEM community by being a Biology 100 Lab TA and having been a Quantitative Skills Drop-in Center Tutor for chemistry and statistics in the past. She has also been involved with America Counts where she tutored 3rd and 5th graders in mathematics. She is also a Peer Advising Leader and a former officer of the Japanese Student Association. She will be doing supervised clinical psychology research this fall.
Ellisa hopes to spend her time after Oberlin going to medical school and pursuing a career that will make healthcare more accessible for racial and ethnic minorities through research or practice.
What drew Ellisa to Oberlin was the welcoming, collaborative, and passionate community. She loves being surrounded by people who challenge her to learn more about the world and grow as a person.
