Study of the guitar is centered on the broad experiences of our faculty who provide students with rigorous instruction tailored to their needs and goals as a musician. Our goal is to develop students’ talents to the highest musical and professional levels through private lessons, coaching, instrumental technique, master classes, a range of performance opportunities, and more.

Oberlin Jazz Ensemble

Oberlin sponsors approximately 500 concerts on campus each year, including recitals and concerts by the more than 25 student ensembles. From jazz to contemporary guitar, classical to popular, computer-generated to acoustic, and from time-tested compositions to newer works, the college and conservatory present performances to satisfy any musical interest.

Punch Brothers to Play Finney Chapel September 28

Punch Brothers, the virtuosic bluegrass ensemble fronted by mandolin player Chris Thile and including Oberlin alum Chris Eldridge ’04 on guitar, will open the 2017-18 Artist Recital Series on September 28.
