The Technology Store will close its doors after 30 years in Oberlin. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the closure.

Will there be a sale of remaining Technology Store inventory?
Yes. Selected remaining inventory after this time is expected to be sold at a discount; details on this liquidation sale are forthcoming.
Will the store continue to accept returns?
The store will accept returns under its normal policy until December 15.
Will the CIT Help Desk be closing or will its services change?
No, the CIT Help Desk will remain open and will continue to provide both software support and hardware repairs.
Will faculty and staff continue to receive computers and other equipment through CIT?
Yes. CIT will still procure technology for Oberlin College including new and replacement computers for faculty and staff as well as institutional software licenses.
Can you still repair my computer?
Yes, the CIT Help Desk will continue to service Apple and HP professional line computers. We will still provide in-warranty repairs for systems covered by AppleCare and Safeware warranties. If you are not on campus, you can contact the warranty provider directly.
Will there be computer loaners available to students, faculty, and/or staff whose systems are being repaired?
CIT will continue to offer a limited number of loaner computers to those who purchased from the store on a first-come, first-served basis.
Will CIT still provide licenses for software? (e.g., Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud)
Can I still get educational discounts on computers?
Yes, Apple offers educational pricing to current and newly accepted college students and their parents, as well as faculty and staff with valid proof of enrollment/employment. Other manufacturers and retailers may also offer similar discounts.
Will this change affect student staff in the store?
We are working to identify alternate employment opportunities for affected student staff.
