Each classroom is outfitted with technology to support teaching. There are three basic classroom technology configurations.

Classroom Technology Configuration Types

Classrooms with a Meeting Owl Configuration

These classrooms have a portable videoconferencing setup called a Meeting Owl Pro. It has a 360 degree camera, along with microphones and speakers in a single compact unit. You will connect your computer to the classroom as you normally do, then connect the Meeting Owl via USB, and start your Zoom class. Detailed instructions for use can be found here.

Benefits

  • Improves remote participation experience by providing an external camera and microphone with greater coverage

Limitations

  • Cannot be used with other in-room equipment such as document cameras or blu-ray players
  • Limited microphone coverage (18' radius) for large rooms.
  • All audio output is routed through the portable system, not the room system
  • Limited positioning in classroom to length of USB cable from computer

Classrooms with a Zoom Basic Configuration

These classrooms have a camera mounted on the wall and microphone(s) suspended from/in the ceiling. You will connect your computer to the classroom as you normally do, then connect the USB cable for the camera and microphone and start your Zoom class. Benefits

  • Improves remote participation experience by providing an external camera and microphone with excellent classroom coverage
  • Audio will be integrated with the room system –all output will come from the room speakers
  • You can adjust the camera via button presets on the remote

Limitations

  • Cannot be used with other in-room equipment such as document cameras or blu-ray players

Classrooms with a Zoom Room Configuration

These classrooms have a camera, microphone(s), a touch panel, and Zoom Room computer installed. They provide a fully integrated experience with a dedicated system to run a Zoom call and the ability to share content from any technology such as DVD/blu-ray and document cameras. You will connect your computer to the classroom as you normally do, then begin your Zoom class meeting and join the room to the call. Detailed instructions for use can be found here.

  • Can be used with other in-room equipment such as document cameras or blu-ray players

  • Requires training to learn how to use Zoom Room touch panel successfully
