Biography
As the facility manager for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Manning coordinates services. She monitors the condition of chemistry laboratories used for research and teaching as well as department offices.
She represents the department on facility upgrades by meeting with project managers, engineers, and other appropriate personnel to schedule and audit work. Manning performs safety audits and writes standard operating procedures and policies based on OSHA, ANSI, and EPA rules and regulations. She assists in department safety training for faculty, staff, and students.
Manning is a member of the Science Center Safety Committee. She serves as the emergency contact for injuries, providing evaluation and first aid. She maintains injury logs, files injury reports, and meets with involved personnel to develop a written plan to prevent future accidents.
In addition, Manning maintains the department‘s safety documents, and manages, monitors, and reconciles operating budget, endowed funds, and grants. She requests quotes and orders for large equipment purchases and plans the delivery, setup, and implementation of purchased equipment with the end-user and facilities.
In the summer of 2020, Manning took on the role of purchasing agent for the Department of Physics & Astronomy. She also monitors its operating budget, endowed funds, and grants.
