By accepting summer funding from the Career Development Center, the award recipient agrees to use the funds for expenses related to the summer experience approved by the Career Development Center. In addition to full-time participation* at their host organization, the award recipient is required to complete the following: 

  1. Attend ONE of the summer funding prep sessions (dates TBA)
  2. Learning Agreement (within two weeks of the start date)**
  3. Summer Experience Funds Summary by Friday, June 26, 2020
  4. Final Evaluation (last day)**
    Supervisors will receive an evaluation to complete on the student’s performance. 
  5. If the summer experience involves international travel, the award recipient must register their trip on the Office of Program for International Study’s Travel Registry form accessible on this website: .

*Full-time participation is defined as 40 hours/week for 8 weeks or 320 hours unless the Career Development Center has approved an alternate time commitment.
**MLK Fund award recipients participating in pre-professional programs that do not include an internship or service component are only required to complete the form highlighting their summer experience. The Career Development Center will contact the program director to confirm the recipient completed the program.

The award recipient is strongly encouraged to contact the Career Development Center as soon as possible if they encounter circumstances that may affect their fulfillment of the requirements listed above. The Career Development Center is open all summer and we are available by email and phone (440-775-8140) if you have questions or need assistance. If for any reason the award recipient fails to complete the summer experience or the requirements, they are required to reimburse the College up to the full amount of the award.  In addition, the award recipient will accept full responsibility for determining if their award needs to be reported on their income tax return and pay any tax due.

By accepting summer funding from the Career Development Center, the award recipient grants Oberlin College permission to include their information, the details of their internship, and photographs in publications and on the College’s website. It is the responsibility of the award recipient to secure the appropriate permission from their host organization and individuals who appear in their photographs.
