What to expect in fall 2021—COVID policies

President Carmen Twillie Ambar recently sat down with Campus Health Coordinator Katie Gravens to discuss COVID-19 ObieSafe protocols and how all of us can pursue a rich and true Oberlin experience this semester. In the coming weeks, the college will offer a number of webinars for students, parents, faculty, and staff to hear more about Oberlin’s policies, to ask questions, and to learn how we intend to move forward together.

This Friday is the deadline for early housing, Community Agreement, and vaccine intent forms

This year, Residential Education is offering some opportunities for students who will be living in college housing this fall to return to campus earlier than their move-in date. Requests will be reviewed and decisions made on a first-come, first-served basis. This request is due Friday, September 10. View more information and access the request form.

All students are required to sign an ObieSafe Community Agreement demonstrating their commitment to responsible participation in a residential educational experience that supports the health, wellness, and safety of all community members. The agreement is due by September 10. Sign the Community Agreement form.

All students must complete the COVID-19 Vaccine Intent Form by September 10 regardless of vaccination or exemption status.

Bring proof of vaccination to campus

Many off-campus opportunities throughout the academic year may require proof of vaccination status. Students will need to provide their own proof of vaccination when requested by off-campus entities. Oberlin is unable to provide a copy of a student's proof of vaccination, even after uploading to Student Health. Bring your vaccine card or image of your card with you to campus.

How to request a COVID-19 vaccination exemption

Students who wish to request a medical or religious exemption to the required COVID-19 vaccination must fill out the Student COVID-19 Immunization Exemption Request form. The exemption request process is interactive, and students may receive requests for additional information or additional clarification on their request. If you have any questions, please contact obiesafe@oberlin.edu.

  • Students arriving from countries that do not offer the influenza vaccine will be able to receive a vaccine through Student Health when it becomes available (440) 775-8180 or health@oberlin.edu.
  • Students who would like to request an influenza vaccination exemption should submit documentation to Student Health.
