Vaccination and testing statistics as of October 4, 2021

The campus vaccination rate as of October 4 is 90.0%. A total of 3,628 vaccine cards have been uploaded and approved for the fall semester campus population. ​​A breakout by students, faculty, and staff is on the vaccination statistics and updates page.

Thursday is the deadline for student COVID-19 vaccine

All students are required to upload a COVID-19 vaccine card showing that they have received all COVID-19 vaccines by Thursday, October 7. Any student requesting an exemption must do so by October 7. If you were not able to obtain a vaccine due to arriving from an international destination, make sure that you contact obiesafe@oberlin.edu to request a review for an extension. Receiving a COVID vaccine and uploading the card to the Student Health Portal is a significant component of the 2021-2022 Community Agreement.

Last Chance: Today is the last day for walk-in COVID testing at Hales Gym

All Oberlin students, faculty, and staff are required to be tested for COVID-19 at the start of the fall 2021 semester. Today is the last day of the walk-in test center at Hales Gym. The test is a self-administered PCR test, and unlike the past, there is no need to schedule an appointment. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. If you were unable to get a test, contact obiesafe@oberlin.edu.

Required weekly COVID testing for unvaccinated students, faculty and staff

Unvaccinated students, faculty and staff are required to have a weekly COVID-19 test as part of the ObieSafe commitment. If you are in the process of being vaccinated, you must test until you are two weeks past the final dose as this is when full immunity occurs. Weekly testing is October 5 through December 15 at Hales Gym. Please note there will be no testing the week of Thanksgiving (November 23, 24 and 25.) Walk-in testing will be available 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Masks required indoors and outdoors

Beginning September 27 and lasting until October 18:

  • Masks are required indoors and outdoors.
  • The only time you may take off your mask is when you are in your room alone or with your roommate.
  • Masks may be removed while eating outdoors or alone in your room with your roommate. There is no dining indoors through October 18.
  • Conservatory students and athletes will follow COVID policies specific to their activities.

The outdoor mask requirement may be extended depending on the rate of infection identified in the arrival period.

Faculty and staff vaccination deadline and exemption form

All faculty and staff employed at Oberlin College must be vaccinated for COVID-19. Vaccinations must be fully completed (all required doses) and uploaded to the Human Resources portal by no later than Monday, November 1, 2021. Faculty and staff who wish to request a medical or religious exemption to the vaccination requirement must fill out a COVID-19 Immunization Exemption Request form. The exemption process is interactive, and employees may receive requests for additional information or additional clarification on their request. Flu shots are required for students

All students are required to get an influenza vaccine, and faculty and staff are encouraged to get the flu shot. Students who would like to request an influenza vaccination exemption should submit documentation to Student Health as detailed in the Certificate of Immunization form.
