I’m a sedimentary geologist by training. Since spending 2 years doing fieldwork in Central America in the 1970’s, I’ve worked mainly on early Precambrian strata in Labrador, the Lake Superior area, Western Australia, and South Africa where I’ve studied sandstones, carbonates, iron formations, volcaniclastics, and distal ejecta layers from asteroid impacts. Most of my projects involve Oberlin students as co-investigators in the field and/or lab. One recent product of my research is Distal Ejecta Layers co-authored with Billy Glass.
