I pointed out that no one in CSA is going to go out there and start any sort of dance-off, but that bit of sanity seemed to fall on deaf ears.

One choice--to visit a college--can be the first step on that much-talked-of journey of a thousand miles. No, I'm not referring to the famous Confucius quote, actually--I'm thinking of The Lord of the Rings . Although Oberlin is a lot more fun than Mount Doom.

I am a big fan of free pizza. I am, however, not as big a fan of prospies.

What be the ferocious and intangible 3-2 Engineering Program, you ask? Aye, for one as young as you, it is a thing most mysterious and, again, intangible. Sit down, children, and I'll tell you a story that would burn the hair right off your chest to hear.

During my first tour of campus, I saw smiling students, wide open spaces, and albino squirrels, all of which drew me closer to the school — but what really got me was the energy, the vibrancy, and the passion.

I sat and thought about all the colleges I'd visited. And the thing that jumped out about Oberlin was that I wanted to go back.

In many ways, my story of getting to Oberlin is pretty uninspiring, and it's certainly brief.

I started out this semester with the idea that I would declare Biology or Engineering as my major and get cracking on the classes I needed to fulfill the major requirements. This was to be my buckling down semester, full of sciences and maths of various shapes and flavors.

This New York spring break was defined by seeing as many Oberlin things in the real world, to complement bringing as many Oberlin things with me on breaks. In this post: The Allen Art Museum at the Met, an alumni musical revue, the Obertones in Washington Square Park, and many photos!

As part Oberlin public relations obsessor, part awesome big sister, I made beautiful detailed schedules that kept Ben busy and experiencing all the best things Oberlin had going on this weekend.

Jen, the woman in the Admissions office behind organizing almost every tour, overnight visit, or visit program, fondly refers to me as the Transfer Queen.
