There are a variety of questions tour guides get from prospective students applying to the college, but who are interested in pursuing music through the conservatory, but they all come down to the same thing: how involved can I be in the conservatory as a college student?

Thinking that ten years of "pre-professional" training prepares you to choreograph a three-minute contemporary solo is kind of like spending years reading Shakespeare and then being told to whip up a novel with some magical realism.

Every day in Colorado, I didn't just meet spectacular people, I met spectacular people who believe what I believe: that arts-related activism isn't frivolous, that it can save and radically transform lives.

I realized and then accepted that unmitigated busyness was not equivalent to productivity, but a threat to it. I learned that sometimes even doing something you love is a luxury that you should be prepared to sacrifice when faced with the exigencies of the bigger picture.
