There's no place like home...

These are a few of my favorite things...

I've just had one of the most thrilling weekends of my life. And no, it's not because Ajax, my Amsterdam soccer team, won the Dutch league on Sunday (although that was pretty cool). I got to hand a $100,000 Human Rights Award to the Spanish Judge Baltasar Garzón.

Brandi recently posted an inquiry on her facebook status: "Oberfriends: If you had less than 60 seconds to express how awesome Oberlin is to someone who knows next to nothing about this place, what/how would you do it?" I visited her earlier that day, and she asked me the same question.

I tried on the chocolatier's life for size over break, and decided the scholar's life suited me better. Not that it wasn't fun.

Proof of my not-so-secret theory that Oberlin is slowly taking over the world.

In which the extent of my nerdiness is revealed.

The people in Emma's family tease each other affectionately but ceaselessly and her older brother kept trying to eat my brains. I felt right at home.

In which a Californian attempts to explain weather in Ohio to those people who live in a warm climate.

Don't be afraid to fail. I don't mean slack off until you get an "F." I mean do something out of your comfort zone and risk not succeeding as brilliantly as you would like.

In which I realize that I only have one semester remaining at Oberlin. Terrifying.
