Classes of 1970, 1971, 1972

On June 3-5, 2022 we will welcome back to campus our milestone 25th and 50th reunions, as well as provide a special invitation back to campus for the Classes of 1970 and 1971, whose 50th reunions were postponed. Everyone involved in reunion planning – from our campus partners to alumni volunteers – continues to hold the safety of our alumni and campus community as a top priority. We are grateful for the strength, creativity and resilience of Oberlin alumni, students, parents, faculty and staff.

What will reunion weekend look like?

Programs will take place on campus June 3 - 5, 2022. Reunion Weekend 2022 will include signature reunion elements along with specific programming for the 50th Reunion Class (1972). A special invitation back to campus for the Classes of 1970 and 1971 will be extended as their reunions shifted to virtual. There will be fun, music, and a celebration of the sights, sounds, and experiences from Oberlin.

When can we register for events?

Registration will open in early spring 2022.

When is the schedule of events going to be available?

The schedule of events will be available in early spring 2022.

Why is on-campus housing unavailable?

On-campus housing is unavailable due to a significant shift in the academic calendar in response to COVID-19, as well as ongoing campus construction. The final day of classes for students is June 4, so our dorms will be filled with students and unavailable for alumni use during the reunion weekend.

Can I make my own travel and hotel accommodations?

You are welcome to arrange your own hotel and transportation, but scheduled shuttles will only be available from the hotels where we have room blocks held.

COVID-19 Impact

As public health conditions and protocols continue to evolve, Oberlin has developed all COVID-19 policies with the health and safety of the campus community top of mind. Lorain County Public Health and University Hospitals are among our chief consultants in the development of healthcare strategies along with continual analysis of transmission data on campus and in the surrounding communities.

All visitors are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated with a booster if they are six months or more past their initial course of mRNA vaccination (Pfizer, Moderna) or two or more months past their initial dose of Johnson & Johnson. COVID-19 vaccines are the best strategy for protecting each person’s health, stopping the spread of variants, and preventing new ones from emerging. A high vaccination rate allows students, faculty, staff and alumni to benefit from a low risk of infection on our campus. The college also requires that both vaccinated and unvaccinated students, staff, faculty, and visitors wear masks indoors.

Currently, we plan to safely welcome you back to campus this June. If conditions change, and adjustments to our current in-person reunion plans are necessary, we will communicate with you directly and update information on the reunion website.

Reunion giving will continue to provide a vital source of support for Oberlin students. As your reunion approaches, we hope you will consider how a new or increased gift to Oberlin can honor your past while supporting the college’s future.

Oberlin alumni have a long history of securing their legacy through collective philanthropy. Over and above continuing support of the Annual Fund, each class establishes a legacy in championing the next generation of Obies! Your reunion gift is a powerful way for you to be involved in the life of the college and conservatory, and helping guarantee that future students will be able to enjoy the transformational experiences that Oberlin provided in your life.

Gifts of every size make a difference, and all donations of any designation made prior to Reunion will automatically be credited toward your class or cluster gift. Support Oberlin by:

  • Making a gift when you register for reunion weekend
  • Visiting to give securely online
  • Calling (800) 693-3167 to make your gift via phone
  • Emailing for questions regarding planned giving, gifts by stock, and employee matching gifts
  • Sending a check made payable to:
