25th and 50th reunions will be held during Commencement and Milestone Reunion Weekend, Friday, May 19 - Monday, May 22, 2023

5th, 20th, 40th, and 55th Cluster reunions will be held during Homecoming weekend September 29 - October 1, 2023

Oberlin embraces the mutual goals of providing graduating students with a commencement celebration of the highest caliber and hosting reunions that provide alumni with meaningful opportunities for them to connect with one another and the college.

To accomplish both goals within available resources, splitting reunions is necessary. In the tradition of the 50th class participating in Oberlin’s annual commencement ceremony, and in acknowledgment of a traditional 25th reunion milestone, Oberlin will celebrate both the milestone 25th and 50th reunions during commencement weekend.

In considering a time to hold remaining cluster reunions, fall Homecoming weekend provides an opportune setting. The campus is alive with activity and special events that allow alumni to celebrate and reflect upon their own time on campus while experiencing the Oberlin of today. Homecoming weekend carries an unambiguous invitation: return home to Oberlin, where alumni have many “homes,” from the classroom to the stage, to social and academic circles, and specific locations on campus.

These reunions will take place on campus May 19-22, 2023, and will include specific programming for the 25th reunion class cluster (1996, 1997, and 1998) and the 50th reunion class (1973). There will be fun, music, and a celebration of signature reunion elements during commencement weekend. Reunion activities will occur from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21, with Commencement on Monday, May 22.

The following classes will celebrate during Homecoming weekend, September 29 - October 1, 2023:

  • 5th Cluster – Classes of 2017, 2018, and 2019
  • 20th Cluster – Classes of 2002, 2003, and 2004
  • 40th Cluster – Classes of 1982, 1983, and 1984
  • 55th Cluster – Classes of 1967, 1968, and 1969

We are excited to invite alumni back to Oberlin when the campus is energized with academic offerings, musical performances, athletic contests, and student activities. In addition to building activities and events specific to your cluster, holding your reunion during homecoming weekend also allows for more opportunities to interact with current students.

Due to campus construction projects, building renovations, and staffing pressures, Oberlin is no longer able to offer campus housing to returning alumni. The inability to provide on-campus housing is a determination that came from an assessment of several factors reviewed by Oberlin’s executive leadership team, including:

-Campus construction related to the carbon-neutral Sustainable Infrastructure Project
-Planned, necessary, and/or possible dorm renovations
-Oberlin’s ability to turn dorms from student housing to acceptable and clean alumni housing in a short period of time
-Issues that arise from students being housed in dorms with alumni guests
-Negative feedback received from alumni who have stayed in dorms during previous reunions

To mitigate the effects of this housing shift, the college is working with area hotels to provide blocks of rooms, and complimentary shuttles between campus and the hotels.

You are welcome to arrange your own hotel and transportation, but complimentary shuttles will only be available from the hotels where the college has room blocks held

Tent camping and RV hookups will not be available, as we make way for Oberlin's Sustainable Infrastructure Project (SIP). Guests interested in camping are welcome to look for options near campus. Findley State Park, about 17 minutes south of Oberlin, is one such option.

Registration for May's reunions will open in March 2023. Registration for fall gatherings will open in late summer 2023.

While reunion events will be designed with reunion classes and clusters in mind, many campus activities will be scheduled that are open to all alumni, from Illumination in May to concerts, campus productions, and special homecoming programs in the fall.
