Alex Abreu has earned experience with a number of arts organizations, including three years on the staff of the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, where he served first as a production assistant and later as artistic coordinator of the Jazz and Piano & Strings programs. He maintained the music libraries at the Ravinia Steans Music Institute and at Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, and was responsible for personnel management for the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra.
As a clarinetist, Abreu has performed with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Firelands Symphony, and BlueWater Chamber Orchestra, and can be heard in the premiere recording of Elizabeth Ogonek’s The Water Cantos. He is a 2021 graduate of Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied clarinet performance with Richard Hawkins as well as arts administration.
