You can visit Oberlin this fall! Guided campus tours of Oberlin have resumed, with some modifications to protect the health of our guests, students, and employees.
Oberlin College and Conservatory is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and has followed local, state, and national health organization guidance in developing this phased re-opening plan. Please review these guidelines so you know what to expect during your upcoming visit experience.

So that we can offer the safest and most positive visit experience, registration for a campus visit is required. No walk-in visitors can be accommodated at this time. If you arrive and don’t have a scheduled appointment, you will be offered a campus map and given the opportunity for a self-guided tour.
Campus tours will be offered at select times Monday through Saturdays in fall 2020. Please check our schedule. There will be only one family per tour. To prevent possible exposure, we recommend limiting the number of people joining you for your visit. In order to follow health department guidelines, all tours will be limited to 10 people. Until further notice, campus tours will be exterior/outside tours only.
College Arrival Procedures
We recommend you arrive to campus as close to your scheduled tour time as possible. When you arrive, park in a spot close to the admissions office in the lot located behind the Hotel at Oberlin (campus map). Call our campus visit office at 440-775-5527 to notify us you have arrived. If you are unable to reach a staff member on this line, please call our main office at 440-775-8411. Once you've called to check in for your visit, then your tour guide will meet you outside and can direct you to our public restrooms before starting the 60-minute campus tour.
Face coverings are required of our employees and our guests, even when outdoors. This is the best way for us to ensure the health and safety of all involved in the visit experience. If you are unable to wear a covering due to a particular health reason, please contact us in advance to let us know.
Oberlin will have a supply of disposable face coverings available for guests who don’t have or forget to bring one.
Tour guides, staff, and guests will be required to use proper social distancing (remaining 6 feet apart) throughout the visit.
All guests are asked to do a health self-check the day of their visit. Tour guides and staff also have this requirement for each day they work. Anyone who is not feeling well, who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and/or who realizes they may have been exposed to the virus in the past 14 days should refrain from visiting/coming to work. If you need to cancel your visit, please know that you will not be penalized in the application process. The health and safety of our visitors and employees is our top priority.
College Information Sessions
No in-person information sessions will be offered at this time. We will continue to offer live virtual information sessions and other live virtual events.
Interviews and Counselor Chats
While interviews are not required for admission to Oberlin College, they are recommended as an excellent way to connect one-on-one with an Oberlin representative. At this time, we are unable to accommodate in-person interviews on campus, but prospective 2021 applicants may register for a Virtual interview at your convenience. We will begin offering campus visitors the opportunity to chat one-on-one with an admissions counselor later this summer.
Conservatory Arrival Procedures
Visitors should arrive at the entrance of the Birenbaum Innovation and Performance Space located on 10 E. College St. (near the intersection of College St. and Main St.) 5 minutes before the scheduled session time to be greeted and granted entrance to the building. When you arrive, you can park in any of the 2-hour street parking spots along East College Street or in the nearby lot located behind the Hotel at Oberlin (campus map).
Conservatory Information Session and Tour
The information session and tour are combined; however the session will be held in the Birenbaum Innovation and Performance Space. The tour will explore all major areas of the conservatory complex, including recital halls and practice spaces. Originally planned to be outside, the format of the conservatory tour may be adapted for health and/or weather reasons depending on the current circumstances.
In consideration of current public health guidelines, each session and tour will be limited to two to four (2-4) families based on tour guide availability.
At this time, we are not able to offer refreshments to visitors.
We are unable to provide on-campus dining options at this time. However, there are a number of restaurants in downtown Oberlin that offer both in-person dining as well as take-out. If you need recommendations, just ask the students and/or staff on duty.
Per social distancing guidelines, we discourage personal contact and will be unable (as hard as this will be!) to offer a handshake.
