Officially Wired

Last May, Yahoo! Internet Life magazine placed Oberlin 41st on its Most Wired Colleges survey-and seventh among colleges. MIT was first, and universities and technical schools dominated the rankings.

Published by Yahoo! Inc., the online search service giant, the survey used four main factors to determine its standings: academics (sample question: how many classes assign online homework?); hardware and wiring (sample question: the ratio of students to computer-network ports); student affairs (online registration); and student services (percentage of students clubs and organizations with Web pages).

The survey, which now has a preview of the coming year's rankings, is available online (well, duh) at http://www.zdnet.com/yil/content/college/100colleges.html.
