Three other Oberlinians have been awarded MacArthur Fellowships.
- Bill Irwin '73, a performance artist renowned for his work in mime and new vaudeville, received his fellowship in 1984.
- Ralf Hotchkiss '69, a pioneer in the field of rehabilitation engineering, won a fellowship in 1989.
- Julie Taymor '74, a theater director and designer best known for imaginative stage adaptations using masks and puppets, was named a fellow in 1991.
