Oberlin College Policies
of particular interest to Women

Sexual Harassment and Sexual Offense policies

Members of the Collge community have a right to an environment free from sexual and gender related offenses. To this end Oberlin College maintains preventative and educational programs for the community. Incidents of sexual assault and sexual harassment may be reported to the Sexual Offense Policy Advocates, who provide support and information.

Sexual Offense Policy
.
OSCA Sexual Offense Policy: OSCA is the Oberlin Student Co-op Association. It is independent of the College, so this is not an official college policy. The policy does, however, provide an avenue for addressing grievances related to sexual harassment and offenses for OCSA members.

Parental Leave

College policies related to family leave are included in employee handbooks; an online version of the policy for faculty and A&PS is offered here. Contact Human Resources for current information.

Survey on Parental Leave
The Committee on the Status of Women conducted a survey of the teaching faculty regarding maternity/paternity leave policies in the fall of 1995. Faculty were asked to evaluate their own experiences related to leave taken after the birth or adoption of a child while employed by Oberlin College, and ranked various leave options in order of preference. The committee intends to continue its review of parental leave policies, with a goal of offering more flexible options within the guidelines of the present policy.
