PAUL MOSER

Paul Moser Associate Professor of Theater, is the Chair of the Theater and Dance Program. Paul has directed a wide variety of productions at Oberlin: Spring Awakening, As You Like It, Aunt Dan and Lemon, Peer Gynt, The Wager, Twelfth Night, The Cradle Will Rock, All's Well That Ends Well, Picnic, The Cherry Orchard, and Buried Child. He's also the Producing Artistic Director of The BlackRiver Theater Company (an acting ensemble based in Oberlin combining the talents of Equity, community and student actors). With Black River he has produced two of his own plays, The Problem with Dinosaurs and Sanctuary, as well as an adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Previous to teaching, Mr. Moser served as Associate Artistic Director of the Indiana Repertory Theatre where his directing credits included: A Streetcar Named Desire, The Crucible, Torch Song Trilogy, Tobacco Road, and Virginia. He also developed numerous Cabaret pieces for the IRT Cabaret. Other regional theater directing credits include Portland Stage, New Harmony Theater Company, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, the Phoenix Theater, Spectrum State, and Theatre Virginia. He also stage managed for several years in NYC including at The Roundabout Theatre Company and Soho Rep. Mr. Moser is a graduate of Brown University and the Yale School of Drama (MFA in Directing); he is a member of the Director's Union: SSDC.

Professor Moser teaches Speaking Shakespeare's Texts, Acting/Directing: Scene Study, and Directing during the Spring and Scene Study: Acting and Acting Verse. For current course listings, please go to the course catalog. Paul is married to Karen Nelson Moser.
