FACULTY AND STAFF

MICHAEL LOUIS GRUBE

Associate Professor, Michael Grube is the Managing Director of the Theater and Dance Program as well as the Scene Designer for theater and dance events, and the Conservatory of Music’s Opera Theater productions.  This is his 27th year with Oberlin College.  He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, MFA, Theater Design and Technical Production ’76 and St. Vincent College, BA, Financial Administration, ’71, and attended Seton Hill College for coursework in Theater in 1972.  His professional credits include work with the Opera Company of Boston, Boston,  Massachusetts,  Music Theatre North, Potsdam, New York, GeVa Theater, Rochester, New York, Stage One Children’s Theater in Louisville, Kentucky, Dobama Theater, Cleveland Ohio and Karamu House in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mr. Grube’s summer credits include designs for Music Theatre of Wichita, Wichita, Kansas, the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, Massachusetts, The Ohio Light Opera Company in Wooster, Ohio, and the Lyric Opera Cleveland, at the Cleveland Playhouse, Cleveland Ohio.  Mr. Grube is currently a member of the Administrative and Professional Staff (A&PS) Council and the Chair of the Scout Committee of Troop 130 in Grafton, Ohio.  He has served on the Board of Directors for Lorain County’s MAD* Factory and was Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals 1999-2004, and was Vice-Chair of the A&PS Council from 1998-2003.

Mr. Grube teaches coursework in Scene Design and supervises student projects in related technical and design areas.
