OBERLIN
GRADUATE PROGRAM IN TEACHER EDUCATION

Certification & Licensure

All candidates who successfully complete the twelve-month, 43 semester-hour GTEP program will receive the Master in Education degree from Oberlin College, and will also be eligible for initial teaching licensure granted by the State of Ohio in either Early Childhood (preK-grade 3) or Middle Childhood (grades 4-9).

The GTEP office will assist successful candidates in completing the licensure steps required by the Ohio Department of Education.

Ohio participates in the Interstate Licensing Agreement with 42 other states, making it possible for an educator who completes an approved program in one state to earn a teaching license in another state. The process of interstate licensing varies from state-to-state; to learn more about a particular state, visit their Department of Education web site.
