Required Application Materials Checklist

You must provide the following for your application to be considered complete.

1. Application Form (submit Applicant portion, pp. 2-5)

2. Resume of Experience

3. Admission Essay

4. Application Fee: $35.00 non-refundable (Check made payable to Oberlin College)

5. Official Transcript(s): Arrange to have an official transcript sent directly to GTEP from each college or university you have attended.

  • Middle Childhood Education Applicants: please also submit course descriptions. The State of Ohio has specific guidelines for declaring your two areas of concentration. Please contact us to make arrangements for a transcript review to help you determine your two content areas. Course descriptions can usually be found on-line, or by contacting the office issuing your transcript.

6. GRE Scores: Applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test and have scores sent directly to Oberlin College. For information about the GRE, visit: www.ets.org

7. (3) Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must request three letters of recommendation using the Reference Form included in the application packet.


Students filing for financial aid: Please note that the required financial aid forms must be filed as soon as possible. Students who do not file early may jeopardize their eligibility to receive scholarship funding. See Tuition & Financial Aid for forms and more details.

Interviews: The strongest applicants will be invited to campus for Group and Individual Interviews with program personnel.

NOTE ON PRAXIS II TESTS:
We do not require you to take the Praxis II Subject Assessment Test(s) prior to attending our program. However, teacher candidates will have to take these tests (and meet Ohio's required passing score) before graduating from GTEP and prior to applying for provisional teaching licensure. (Applicants who have already taken these Praxis II tests and met Ohio's required passing score will be able to use their current test scores to meet the above requirements.)
