New College Dorms

To the Editors:

In the next few years, Oberlin College will build a new dormitory on campus. Not the Firelands apartment building, not a renovation of an old dorm, but a brand spankin’ new building. It will house approximately 150 students and will most likely be designed for upper-class students. Although the design process for the building is only just beginning, we would like to encourage the student body to get involved in the vision for this new addition to Oberlin’s campus. There are infinite possibilities for this new building, and we believe that it needs to reflect the values that Oberlin College stands for. Now is the time to get involved in this process and make sure the administration, the architects, and the board of trustees listen to what students want. If you have an opinion on what you would like to see in this new building, please come to the public input meetings that will be taking place in the coming months. The first is on Thursday, December 12th at 7pm in Hallock Auditorium in the Environmental Studies building. Please come and speak your mind!
