Dedication to Love

To the Editors:

This weekend our new Science Facilities are being dedicated. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Oberlin College’s Board of Trustees and the President for their vision and courage in moving forward on this important and difficult project. If not already obvious, I am confident that the wisdom of their decision will be demonstrated in the coming years by the strength of Oberlin’s Science Programs.
But this is a bittersweet occasion, as we will not be graced by the presence of our late colleague David Love who passed away this year. More than any other individual David Love was responsible for making these facilities possible through his vision, attention, perseverance, creativity, and politicking. I will remember him whenever I enter these magnificent facilities.
